This was a commission for a local player who wanted to add this piece to his Warhammer 40k Necron army. The paint scheme matched his current army, but he requested that the base be like the surface of the moon, with scattered teal crystals.
The base and figure were painted separately. To try and get that high contrast light-grey-black moon surface, I did the basing work before priming. I did a zenithal prime, starting with black, and finished with an extremely low angle Grey Seer. Sculpted onto the orb in his hand was a small moon, the craters of which used some greenstuff and Milliput. The crystals I printed on an Elegoo Mars Pro 3. Painting was a mixture of contrast paints, metallics, and pin washes.
He was a lot of fun to paint and has seen some games since!
