The Helmet!
My buddy upscaled a helmet bust to 1:1 scale and ended up giving it to me because he had no room for it. The entire helmet was coated in automotive primer and one of the horns was broken, but I had an idea. I bought some Folk Art Pewter paints and some larger acrylic brushes and took the 1 1/2" brush and got to work. Laid the pewter across the model and let it dry.
The next session was using Gemstone Red for the accent work followed by greedy gold. I dry brushed some of the gold across the face and rear of the helmet. I kept the idea of this being worn and old in mind.
The next session was applying dark tone across the helmet followed by sepia tone in spots. I then purchased a base and fairy lights from Amazon and set those up so that the helmet is lit from the inside, and I added some Army Painter Summer Undergrowth to look like miss or other such growth.
All in all, 5 lunch breaks of painting and one of picture taking. It's a conversation piece at the office for sure, and is being stored there so the wife doesn't go nuts. Hahaha! Available on my Etsy store currently.
