I wanted to capture the rotting beauty of death, how it can be painful yet peaceful. That all things pass on and have a second life, and what death gives back to the earth.
I wanted my paint to be dark in the right spots and be bright in others to show there can be light in darkness.
The Foggy eyes convey the emotion of a ghost: that something might still be there but is slowly fading.
I used forget-me-not flowers as symbolism to remind the viewer that death shouldn't cause us to forget who we've lost. The moss symbolizes new growth.
What do you see when you look at this model?
I have painted this elk from Witchsong Miniature (Arsen, Horns of Hell).
