Heavy Fire, Heavier Fury: World Eaters Heavy Weapons Squad
I’m excited to share my World Eaters Heavy Weapons Squad, painted for One Page Rules: Grimdark Future. Even though the XIIth Legion is known for charging headfirst into melee, this squad brings the brutal, unsubtle kind of firepower that fits their philosophy perfectly — overwhelming force, delivered with zero restraint.
Models & Concept
The unit was built using a mix of Chaos Space Marine kits, classic Forge World World Eater bits, and select conversions to give each Marine a feral, unhinged identity.
The idea was to create heavy gunners who look just as savage as their melee-focused brothers: brutal stances, scarred armor, and equipment that looks like it’s been dragged through a dozen warzones.
Massive chain-fed weapons, corrupted heavy bolters, and battle-worn armor help sell the idea that even their “ranged support” is fueled by anger, adrenaline, and centuries of violence.
Painting Approach
As with the rest of the force, the paint scheme is based on the classic Grimdark Compendium World Eaters tutorial — layered whites, corrupted reds, and plenty of texture.
Oil washes, chipped armor, and muted metal tones push the grimdark mood further, giving the squad a heavy, gritty battlefield presence.
For these models, I focused on letting the weapons tell a story: heat discoloration, carbon buildup, dirt, dried blood — the kind of detail that makes them feel brutally functional.
Details & Features
• Forge World and kitbash elements for extra personality
• Heavy weapon weathering: burn marks, soot, scratches
• Gritty whites and blood-stained accents
• Mutated/augmented limbs and scarred skin
• Cohesive with the rest of the army, but visually heavier and more grounded
Why This Project?
I always loved the idea of World Eaters heavy gunners — not disciplined support troops, but berserkers who simply overpower their weapons into compliance.
This squad expands the army with a new battlefield role while keeping the same grimdark tone and character I’ve been building across the force.
