Academic Orc Bust 2.0

This piece marks a first for me: my very first bust!

Painting the Orc 2.0 Academic bust from Hera Models was a really fun experience and a great opportunity to put some new techniques to the test. I love pushing orc skin tones toward the bluer side of green, as I feel it adds an interesting twist to the traditional green-skinned orc. One of the areas I focused on most was the tattoo. I really wanted it to feel like ink settled beneath the skin rather than warpaint simply painted on top, and it was a fun challenge to work toward that effect.

I still need to find the right plinth for this piece, so please excuse the placeholder cork for now! ๐Ÿ˜…

Overall, I'm really happy with what I've learned from this project. There's always room to grow, but that's part of the fun of this hobby. I'm looking forward to painting more busts, trying new techniques, and continuing to challenge myself with each new piece!

Brilliant work on the face tattoos are they all freehand?
