Athorx Hope Eater

Sculpture by Loot Studios
Painted with Pro Acryl paints

Athorx began as a failed resin print that should have gone straight into the bin. Instead I turned it into a practice piece and it surprised me by becoming one of my favorite models I have ever painted. The rough surface and printing flaws forced me to slow down and make every choice intentional. Nothing could be rushed and that ended up shaping the entire project.

I approached Athorx with storytelling in mind. The scars, the stretched skin, the heavy armor plates, the strange organic growths, all of it became a chance to explore mood and character. I focused on clear materials, strong volumes, and a sense of weight and menace. Every decision was made to support the idea of a creature that feeds on fear and carries its story in its body.

What started as a mistake became a lesson in patience, problem solving, and trusting the process. Athorx reminded me that learning pieces can become standout pieces when I let the story lead the paint.
