Still Rolling Since the Heresy
byOHHansOn
Veteran of the Long War: World Eaters Rhino II
Here is the second Rhino in my World Eaters force — a true Deimos-pattern transport that has served the Legion since the days of the Horus Heresy and the Brother War itself.
Models & Concept
Unlike the first Rhino, this one is largely original in its design.
It represents an ancient war machine that has never left the Legion’s service — a relic of earlier wars, still rolling forward under the banner of the XIIth.
Its Deimos pattern gives it a more restrained, archaic silhouette, emphasizing function over excess. This Rhino doesn’t need trophies or corruption to tell its story — its scars and worn armor speak for themselves.
Painting Approach
The paintwork focuses on age and endurance rather than recent looting or defilement:
• Subtle, layered weathering built up over time
• Faded whites and deep reds showing centuries of use
• Scratches, dents, and repairs rather than overt damage
• Dust, grime, and oil staining around the lower hull
The goal was to make it feel ancient but still fully operational — a machine that has survived countless campaigns and continues to carry Berserkers into battle.
Details & Features
• Deimos-pattern Rhino
• Largely original configuration
• Weathering focused on age and long service
• Visual contrast to the looted MKIIc Rhino
• Second transport in the World Eaters motor pool
Why This Project?
I wanted my World Eaters army to show different layers of history.
This Rhino represents continuity — a vehicle that has fought since the earliest days of the Legion and still serves its brutal purpose without question.
