Herald of the XIIth Legion

Bearer of the Red Oath: World Eaters Standard Bearer
This is my World Eaters Standard Bearer, a support hero that has been part of the army since the days of 8th Edition Warhammer 40,000. That legacy is also reflected in his base size — he still stands on a 32mm base, rather than the 40mm commonly used for heroes in One Page Rules today.
Models & Concept
The model was built as a traditional World Eaters banner bearer, combining classic legion iconography with brutal, battle-worn aesthetics.
• The banner top comes from a Bloodletter unit, reinforcing the strong Khorne and daemonic influence
• The rest of the model is constructed using the familiar mix of Forge World World Eaters parts, keeping him visually consistent with the rest of the force
The banner itself represents devotion, rage, and the unifying fury of the XIIth Legion — a symbol the Berserkers can rally around as they advance into slaughter.
**Use in Games✱
In One Page Rules, I use this model flexibly:
• To mark special rules within a unit
• Or as a mage-type hero, channeling gifts and blood-fueled energies rather than traditional psychic powers
This dual role fits the idea of a World Eaters banner bearer perfectly — not a scholar or sorcerer, but a conduit for rage, devotion, and battlefield momentum.
Painting Approach
He was painted in the same grimdark World Eaters style as the rest of the army: textured whites, deep reds, dark metals, and heavy weathering.
The banner received special attention, with layered grime, worn fabric, and subtle blood effects to make it feel ancient and battle-proven rather than ceremonial.
**Details & Features✱
• Classic World Eaters Standard Bearer
• Bloodletter banner icon for strong Khorne symbolism
• Forge World parts for legion identity
• Grimdark textures and heavy weathering
• Smaller base reflecting his original 8th Edition role
Why This Project?
This model exists because the army needed him — first for 8th Edition 40k, and now as a flexible support hero in One Page Rules.
He represents continuity across editions and systems: a symbol of rage, belief, and bloodshed that still marches at the heart of the force.
