The Space Conductor

This astronaut was my entry for the Beyond Your Imagination 2 – Astronaut Challenge 2025, hosted by Roman Lappat (Momo Pügerl).
In my vision, the astronaut becomes a conductor of the universe. In front of him stands a conductor’s stand with a small lamp, and with the movement of his hand, he sets the rhythm of the music that creates the cosmos around him. The freehand notes painted onto the backdrop gradually shrink as they rise upwards, symbolizing how the music transforms into the universe itself.
The backdrop with its nebula and stars is my very first attempt at painting such a scene – I used a combination of purple, red, and white, inspired by traditional nebula painting tutorials. On the figure, I also experimented with a subtle OSL effect from the lamp on the stand.

For me, this project was not only about painting, but above all about the joy of experimenting and bringing a personal idea into visual form. I hope you enjoy my little “cosmic symphony.”
