Fire Vampires

The Fire Vampires from Cthulhu: Death May Die are manifestations of Fthaggua’s cosmic hunger—but they don’t look like fire. The sculpt takes cues from orchids and unsettling fragments of human anatomy, with petal-like forms and sinewy curves that suggest something half-grown, half-formed. I leaned into that alien biology with layered reds, oranges, and pinks, aiming for a finish that feels volatile and disturbingly alive. There’s no face, not much flame—just the suggestion of sentient bloom, ready to erupt across the board. These were painted using oils, and were a perfect match for the blending capabilities and high-pigment of oil paints.
