Unexpacted robot bust

I picked up this Unexpected Robot bust from Scientific Models during my visit to SMC 2025.
My first idea was to approach it in a way inspired by The Wild Robot—a machine gradually blending into nature.
While buying the bust, I had a short conversation with Gianpaolo. We talked about the piece, and he mentioned that when releasing it, he expected someone would paint it as a worn, rusty robot, overgrown with moss.
But so far, no one had really taken that direction.
Which felt a bit surprising, because the idea almost suggests itself.
Maybe most people wanted to avoid the obvious and go for something more original.
I decided to go the other way.
Instead of avoiding that direction, I leaned into it fully—
creating a worn, aged, dirty robot, shaped by time and environment.
From there, the concept naturally evolved into a piece where nature slowly takes over. Moss and organic elements became the key to breaking the mechanical look and softening the overall silhouette.
This is still a competition piece, but the main goal was to bring my original idea to life as clearly as possible—
capturing a moment where a machine, once functional, is slowly becoming part of its surroundings.
