An older model to share this time, this was actually one of my first forays into Warhammer 40k as an adult, and the first Primarch model I ever painted! I didn't even take photos of it at the time, as I hadn't yet gotten into sharing my work online, and having just gotten myself a new DSLR camera, I thought it was a good opportunity to photograph some of my older work. So here is the Primarch of the 13 Legion, The Avenging Son, Roboute Guilliman himself!
For an older project, I'm still really happy with this one. It was one of my earliest attempts at proper highlighting, and I think I did well even though I'd definitely push it further were I to paint this mini again now. I also love the detailing on the gold heraldry, with the white drybrush picking out the details perfectly.
I tried another technique for the first time on this mini as well, using the panel lining technique to fill in the lettering around the base. I seem to remember that didn't go as well as I hoped, I had to spend a lot of time touching up the grey around to cover escaped gold paint, but the end result was worth it!
