Storm Crows Long Range Recon Dreadnought

Full disclosure. The checkerboard pattern is a transfer. I can paint checks very well but not as clean as that lol.  

 I used masking tape or painters tape and placed it into the armour panel. Then used a sharp pencil to get into the edge and mark the shape & then transfer the tape to the checker transfer sheet. Cut it out and after what feels like open heart surgery, work it into the panel without wrecking it. 

 After its dry it just needs a lot of weathering to make it blend into a model like this. A grim dark dreadnought with absolutley perfect checkers is going to look off.

Ooo nice! How did you do the checks? Is that a decal with a lot of weathering on top or something else? Also I really love the lenses on the head.
