A much larger project for me to share this time, and a much more time-consuming one as well - nearly 6 months of work! This is my take on an early Horus Heresy storyline, when the Emperor's Children found themselves cut-off and lost on a dense jungle planet, a world that later came to be simply called "Murder".
This was an awful lot of fun, but a steep learning curve - and I was able to play with a lot of new techniques and tools. I started out placing the trees, both the real wood ones and the 3d printed variety, then built up the ground using crumpled aluminium foil to make the landscape, layering over that with AK's diorama terrain paste. After that it was a case of applying multiple types of flock, paper cut-outs, smaller 3d prints, pourable resin for the stream, and eventually, the Emperor's Children and Megarachnids!
For the final touch, I tried out a new one, the Spider Serum for Green Stuff World. This was amazing, it was super easy to apply the cobwebs effect to the diorama, but BY THE EMPEROR does it make a mess - after applying, there was a dense cloud of spider web floating everyone around the room! Some of these photos are obviously edited for drama, but I included a healthy mix of non-edited ones as well.
Not sure what my next diorama project will be, but the first challenge will be figuring out where to store this one!
