Rocky the Marne Dog

Now this is a story all about how my painting got recognized by a Division ran crowd, and I liked to tell you about it, so sit right there I'll tell you how I got commissioned by a three Star General (I really tried to rhyme this lol).

Little history before I get to the story. This was the base's mascot Rocky the Marne Dog, originally Rock of the Marne was a nickname for the Unit 3rd ID (3rd Infantry Division) in 1918, but in 1965 Fort Stewart (Where the unit resides to this day) the unit commissioned Walt Disney for a mascot

Back when Covid 19 was in full swing I got into printing models and painting them, and granted I wasn't good but as my motto was starting to get traction in my own head, it got better. So my unit was Deployed to Ukraine War, but I wasn't due to a surgery I was needing so I was put up at my Division for the whole year and while there I painted models.

Eventually a new General was taking command and had heard about me sitting at the desk and always painting (I did the jobs that were required of me but when there's nothing to do you find something to do). An he requested a model from me, and the model is the one you see in these pictures. I had to commission a freelancer to sculpt the model and then I had to run a few test prints. Eventually I got it right and began painting. The General was really happy with this model and afterwards 14 other people who worked in the building requested one as well, unfortunately I was told by the Judge Advocate General (JAG) to stop printing the model due to copyrights (I never claimed the model as my own and told them that the General requested the model but they didn't care, but they did like it lol)

So if you ever think you're work isn't being recognized just remember there are people out there seeing it, who knows maybe one day you'll get a high ranking official who will want something. Have a good day and remember, it gets better.
