Don Quixote, the Fool of La Mancha

The story of Don Quixote speaks to me on several levels. It's played for laughs in modern retellings, but it's definitely a tragedy. Someone so obsessed with finding purpose and filling an idealized role to the point of almost delirium. And then he charges the windmill, obsessed with being right, and he crashes. This sculpt by Nerikson captures the moment he realizes he may have made a mistake. The windmill doesn't move. It doesn't yield. And unfortunately he doesn't believe what is before him.

In life, sometimes self reflection is necessary. Looking at one's self through an objective lense and inventorying the mind is crucial. Otherwise you may end up chasing the wind and the windmill thinking they're magic and monsters.
