I thin it takes guts to do OSL, honestly. Pushing yourself to use a technique you aren't super confident in only builds confidence in the technique for future projects. Keep at it!
I think you nailed down the major portion of it. Even before I read the description I could tell it was intended to be like glowing necromantic energy.
definitely inspiring to finally try OSL one of these days.
