The Actual Lion!

So I am going through the backlog and realized I forgot to post my actual Lion El'Jonson from about a year ago. So here he is! I went with the Tywin Lannister/Davos Seaworth face for the challenge and aesthetics. For the armor, I did a Slapchop or Zenithal base coat with Emerald Green metallic paint as a final finish with some dry brushed Irridescent Pearl. That was covered in watered down Grim Black giving the effect seen on the model. I didn't want to edge highlight everything, still don't today for better and worse, and just wanted to try something. I wanted the Lion's armor to be darker, harkening back to the Heresy, and went with a dark red on the Watchers just to make them stand out on the base. I added autumn basing flock to the base with parking lot gravel (SE GA is mainly sand so it makes for great destruction flock), and called it done!

I will say, the modern GW hollow tornado style of construction is annoying. I get the idea of getting less mold lines and physical copyright built in, but it's part of the reason I haven't built another Saturnine Terminator.

All in all, I was thrilled the Lion came back and love this model.
