A la Vie, a la Mort, 'til Death do us part. 75mm, Alexandros Models

Alexandros models has a great series of soldiers and pets. This depicts the disastrous French retreat from Moscow/Russia in 1812. I wanted to capture the sense of freezing on his face/skin. He is bundled up with looted clothing and carrying his dog with bandaged frost-bitten paws. The cast off icons are free hand. I wanted the snow tobe deep, powdery and sticking dusting everything while avoiding looking like frosting. Photographing on a grey background would probably be more effective
