Marike - Guardian of the Sea
This is Marike the Guardian of the Sea from Dark Sword Miniatures. I painted this mini following a paint-along with Painting Big.
Paint-alongs, I have found, are a great way for me to learn and improve. I am a very visual learner. Being able to see and immediately implement what I am seeing/learning on the same mini is really helping me grow as a painter.
I am considering putting her on a custom base and entering her into a local con's painting competition this fall.

The tiny octopus is my favorite part. And the cyan highlights on the NMM.
The paint along is a fantastic idea. I haven't done that, but I should try it some-time.
The highlights on that water dress are kinda blowing my mind, did you thin your paint a lot to get that almost translucent effect? (I'm kind of a beginner 😅)
