M4 Sherman, 761st Tank Battalion "Black Panthers" (1944)

Widely considered "one of the most effective tank battalions in World War II," the 761st was an all-Black American tank battalion deployed to France just after the D-Day landings. Despite being issued older mid-War Sherman models, they fought almost nonstop through the liberation of France, into the Battle of the Bulge, and all the way up to the Allied occupation of Berlin. Members of the unit accumulated about 300 Purple Hearts, and a Medal of Honor was awarded posthumously to Staff Sergeant Ruben Rivers for his sacrifice covering his company from anti-tank fire and an armored counterattack. The battalion as a whole was given a belated Presidential Unit Citation by President Jimmy Carter in 1978. Their motto was "Come Out Fighting"

The freehand on the battalion insignia was hell, but these were real people so I thought I at least owed them the effort. Sorry if that sounds cheesy. I couldn't quite get the full model on the insignia at that scale though, not with the brushes I had on hand. Still, I think it turned out rather well at least for tabletop standard.
