Bringing this mini to life brought with it even more firsts for me, including trying to get a good looking snow texture and casting resin not only on the base to make water, but also in homemade molds to create chunks of ice. I found a few small rocks in shapes that I liked, washed them, pressed and wrapped them in tin foil, then took the rocks out and poured resin in. In some cases, like the large ice block in the water, I poured multiple layers over time because the resin shrank so much during the drying process. This resulted in five perfectly clear, rock-ish-shaped... shapes... that I choose two from to make into ice. I wasn't so much concerned with making it look realistic as I was making it look like it fit the style of the mini and base. I tried dry brushing it at first, but quickly realized that the perfectly clear resin didn't look right, so I ended up getting very aggressive with the paint, haha! I think the final look is good enough, and learned a lot about working with resin. I completely forgot how I'd done the color for the resin on my Thunderjaw base, so the water here looks pretty different. Because of this, I started keeping a journal of my recipes, especially those for certain biomes, so I could better match groups of machines to their boards.
