Relg the Descender

Happy Thursday all and time for something a little gross and different. I was contacted a month or so back by a local guy who runs a DnD group here in town about a commission job. Talked to him a bit regarding what he wanted done and he sent me over a pic of this guy from the manufacturers website. A brand called Trenchworx makes him. Thought it would be an interesting project so I said Id take the gig!

This chonky boi took me a little over three weeks to knock out. He was a bit of a nightmare to assemble as he was a 3d print that was molded for resin casting. Lots of gaps where parts met, so I had to use a ton of PVA glue and dry wall filler to fill all of the spaces and voids between pieces. This was the first time Id ever painted something this large (he stands at 6" tall). I wasnt big on the "grim dark" style he was shown painted as on Trenchworx website, so I painted him up more akin to the Great Unclean One (and lets be honest, we all know thats the main inspiration for his sculpt lol).

Overall, I wasnt completely happy with how he turned out, but the client loved him so I cant complain! I learned a lot about working with different greens on this large lad, so thats never a bad thing. Im glad I had an old White Dwarf handy that gave a tutorial on how to paint modern Ork skin, so that helped my platte choices a lot.

Anywho, I hope you all dig this double XL chonky lad! Ill be borrowing him from his owner in Oct to enter in the "Large Miniature" category at LVO! But as always, I hope you all have an awesome and productive weekend!

PS: If youd like to see any more of my minis, you can find me on IG via OldGrumpyWolf (all one word) as theres lots of fun Grim Bright minis Ive painted up over there.

This is the most Newhammer thing I have seen you do! Very nice!

Pretty cool to see some of your non-space marine work! I really like the cloak (I'm a sucker for purple) and the horns. Another great work of art my friend!
