Star Wars Battle Medics

1:12 scale battlefield diorama featuring Star Wars Black Series 6” figures. This vignette was inspired by the art of Edouard Groult.

I stripped down 2 of the 6 Stormtrooper figures to make into medics. I made the arm sleeves, but got the cargo pants from Etsy. Backpacks and pouches were made from polymer clay, straps are strips of gaffer tape, metal buckles are from jewelry jump rings. For the wounded troopers, I sanded the original armored limbs to make them into bloody leg and arm & then painted skin color. Heads were 3D prints, painted and then attached to the body using Milliput. Bandage & tape were made from paper towel & washi tape. Field lamps are working lamps (3 & 5mm LED bulbs) with enclosures made from scratch (tire caps and plastic odds & ends) Blue IV bag made from boba straw & blue photo gel, IV line is a monofilament fishing line.

Armor was weathered with Vallejo acrylic black, gray & umber Game wash. Water slide decals for the medics’ insignia. Inkjet print for the IV label. Rifle & blaster were dabbed with Vallejo silver & rust. Final step was to coat all plastic areas of the figures with AK ultra-matte varnish & spot Vallejo gloss varnish for the eyes, bloodied areas & metal parts.

Ground base was made from XPS foam, primed with Modge Podge sealer, painted in layers, glue dabs sprinkled with landscaping sand, coarse buff ballast, talus & coffee grounds. I added drips of diluted PVA glue on the loose bits. Tufts of grass were dipped in glue & hand planted, then added drops of diluted umber to their base to darken it. I also added dried floral tips to complete the landscape. Most of the vegetation are dried plant matter that I soaked in glycerine so they become pliable and won't disintegrate.

Awesome project. Thank you for including so many details about your process. It’s neat to get an insight into that. The IV drip thing is amazing!

Love the photography too. That moody lighting one looks cool
