The Crossing

After visiting Washington's Crossing state park on a cold, snowy day with reenactors present to practice for the annual reenactment of the events of Christmas Day 1776, I was inspired to create a box diorama. It uses forced perspective, a painted background, and an accurate depiction of the tavern which still exists at the site. I wanted to contrast the warm firelit interior with the cold dark scene outside as the troops assemble for the crossing.
