Horizon: Zero Dawn Rockbreaker

After painting 14 other Horizon machines, I was inspired by a more experienced painter to stop putting off my bigger minis and just dive into it, to just have fun and learn. So, I painted this 120mm burrowing beast. There were multiple trip ups during the process, but I gained good experience! All things considered, I'm still kind of impressed that I managed to do this so early on in my painting journey.
Now, I had seen a Warhammer 40k White Scars army (on the YouTube channel PlayonTabletop) that had used painted, pulled apart cotton as the dust clouds being kicked up by their motorcycles. Being less experienced, I grabbed some stuffing we had lying around and didn't really think about the difference until after I finished the project. In other words, I wanted it to look like a burst of sand and dust flying into the air as the burrowing rockbreaker broke the surface, but the people I showed it to felt it was pretty "meh." Thing is, I still like it. Maybe someday I'll go back and try to replace it, but for now, it is what it is. 😊

This is so cool! And way to step out of your comfort zone and try a bigger model! 120mm is huge. It looks awesome. I especially love the last pic with the green. I love the effect you got there! I can also completely see what you were trying to do with the dust cloud. Great job overall!
