Caverns of the Frost Giant

This was my first official painting competition piece, I submitted this model not expecting to win or anything, but I managed to win 3rd place and was given the nickname turbo painter (I was painting a model or two a day last year).

Since it was a Frost giant I went with cold colors, his skin was a cold blue tone (I wanted to try to make it look as though it was frost bitten but I wasn't skilled enough). I did the fur pelts in a brown and greys. His helmet was a Steel color and the Deer on his back was just a standard brown color.

I did his axe using a color idea I found on YT to make it look like a magical ice axe using some turquoise and glacier blues and white for the scratches followed by using some technical effect paint to make it look as though it had frost coming off the blade edge (that was by far the most fun).

His base was done in the same manner as the axe head and I used ground texture from Pro Acryl to do the snow on it. This was a great model to paint I need to get him again and try something new. If you're interested the article for what they said about me here's the link.

Enjoy and remember, it gets better.
