This was my main entry for the Tokyo Warhammer Store & Cafe's annual contest, the Rusty Nurgling, which I was able to enter for the first time since 2023.
I've never done a battleboard-type display before, and since I plan on playing with these minis it was a good way to show them off and have a functional tabletop unit afterward.
Not that I consider myself an expert airbrusher but I definitely put in a lot of effort into setting initial blends and giving myself a strong foundation to start with by the time I switched to brushes. I pushed myself to do some pretty thorough panel lining (and I mean thorough since it's Tau!), a good bit of edge highlighting (could have done a lot more on the panels tbh) and some OSL (though probably could have gone much brighter in a few spots).
This was more tabletop+ than display so I'm not at all surprised that I didn't manage to place in a very competitive Squad category, but as far as tabletop-ready minis this is definitely the best work I've done so far, and it's a big step toward having 2000 painted points of Tau.
