Seeking Refuge

First really serious competition entry - painted and entered this mini for Kontrast 2026!
Sculpt is named "Seeking Refuge", and I went with that idea. I wanted to convey feelings of being lost, looking for a new home, but also just being tired and hopeless with it. I imagine her as travelling between continents and maybe even planets with just a bag of spare clothes and a teddy bear to remind her of a place she used to call home. The bear is scratched cause she refuses to leave it, never letting it be unattended. I think of her being stopped at a border crossing, a flashlight being shone into her face by military personnel, and it doesn't even faze her anymore. She's been through so many of those controls, she's dealt with all the types of patrols, and she just wants to catch a break and be able to call one place her home.
I had so much pleasure painting this model, learned a lot once again, and played with a consistent theme and light. I will change the plinth for her, adding the background scene, but that's for a later time cause I've run out of time before the festival now 🤭
