Jeanne d'Arc
I made this piece from an idea I had since seeing this sculpt from Hex Figures. I wanted to make a Joan of Arc that simultaneously highlighted the ecstasy and tragedy of her situation.
My goal was to combine the 3-dimensional modern miniature with a classical religious artwork, complete with a flat, gold leaf halo and a backdrop that was reminiscent of cracking plaster, making a fusion of 3 and 2 dimensional art with both depth and a very specific viewing angle (similar to the Monument Hobbies Frameables).
I ended up re-sculpting the neck with milliput to have her look up to better suit the vision I had in mind.
