Minis as Art Celebration

Can't make it to Adepticon this March? No problem — you can still be part of Monument Hobbies' Minis as Art Celebration here on Baselair! We're bringing the competition online so painters everywhere can participate in this unique open event that celebrates all miniatures as art. Paint a single model and show us your creative vision through your use of color, composition, and storytelling. Join other hobbyists from around the globe in an open competition where you're judged on artistic intent and technical execution.

Entry Guidelines

• One entry per person

• Must be your own work painted during this competition window

• Entries must not have been entered in other competitions

• Single model only, no large scale dioramas

• Fully finished models only, no WIPs

• Any scale, genre, or subject matter

• Conversions, kitbashes, and 3D printed models allowed

• Must include five (5) clear, well-lit photos on a neutral background: bare plastic/unpainted model, front, left side, right side, and back

• No AI-generated, enhanced, or photoshopped images

Judging Criteria

Entries will be evaluated based on creative intent, including:

• Use of color - How effectively you use color to support your concept and create mood

• Consistency of technique - Technical execution that serves your artistic vision

• Quality of build - Clean preparation with no mold lines, seamless assembly, and attention to detail

• Storytelling - The narrative your piece communicates through composition, basing, and presentation

Judging will take place after the competition deadline. Winners will be announced within 10 days of the competition end via the Baselair newsletter and socials.

What's in it for You

Monument Hobbies gift cards will be awarded to the top three finishers: $300 for gold, $200 for silver, and $100 for bronze. All finalists will receive a special shoutout in our newsletter and on social media. In addition, competition judge(s) will choose a limited number of entries to receive direct, constructive feedback.
