Sybelos, the Ascended

I set out to do this mainly because I had a coupon to the Etsy shop that sold it and because it looks bad tail. When I was painting it I was watching Legion and kept the idea of the image of Michael the Archangel slaying demons and the devil in my mind. I wanted to make this arch angel type dude look less like the cherubs on old wall paper and more like your day is ruined if he shows up. I went heavy into the OSL for the sword because I felt it not only fit the overall tone but also helped to sell the idea that this weapon was much like what was described in the book of Genesis and is definitely nothing to trifle with. I also was reminded of a story put out from Trench Crusade about a report of an Angel dropping onto the battlefield and being like a nuclear weapon just laying waste to the monsters and demons and that kind of mess.
I started the whole thing with a base coat of High Lord blue speed paint followed by a healthy dry brush of necrotic flesh and then a dry brush of ivory white. The wings were hit with a dry brush of golden iridescent Pearl before some blinding white speed paint. I didn't like how that turned out as much, so I washed it down with some gray wash from Vallejo before going over with a dry brush of white. Again. The sword is iridescent Pearl paint before being hit with demonic yellow, some moondust yellow and then some moondust yellow mixed with matte white. The OSL is dry brushed, Moon dust, yellow followed by demonic yellow and the high spots. The armor is dry brushed Emperor gold over iridescent Pearl with some gemstone red highlights before being washed down with gray wash. The cape finally is my base code followed by iridescent Pearl, then a purplish mix of speed paints followed by another dry brush of Irridescent Pearl and some actual purple tone.

The base is some turbo dork laser face over a black base coat. Then a dry brush of that same golden iridescent Pearl followed by more laser face and the rim is done in a base coat of weapon bronze followed by hoplite gold speed paint.
