I used plastic card to make it look like the ice is breaking below the broadside's feet. I think the effect is working but I feel like it missing something. Maybe a little more height surrounding the brake?

sweet idea with the ice. I'd actually think the sculpting is probably where it needs to be. Is it like ice on frosted ground or over water? Kinda seems over ground, you may want to consider ice crystals or like a water effect area to show where the ice has not only cracked but also melted a bit.
Just some thoughts! excited to see your progress.
