I havent touched the orks this week as i spent all last week finsihing off some new Models for a new game im working on - obsidian protocol! But i did prep the palnes by getting soem painting handles printed for them so i dont ruion the original bases! Keep an eye out on this mech game as Im excited to show it to you!
I have finished sculpting my two Nobs for the 20 Boyz squad. Equipped with parachutes, goggles, and combi-rockets.Here is the spell-checked and polished version of your sentence (keeping the Ork flavor intact): Also, for Orktober I spent 40 hours designing and slicing my Ork helicopter to proxy as a Trukk. It's basically an old Imperial container cut open and attached to a Stormtalon cockpit and tail, combined with some Orkish technology.
Finally got these guys finished! Took a bit and they’re not as clean as I wanted them to be but it’ll work for tabletop

Value was the main exercise. With a different hue in the front and back while keeping the values. texture and weathering was a first for me. The base is still a wip.
The exercise was value and clear light and shadow sides. Struggled with the shadow values, since I didn't know how to do this.

First time using a backdrop to amplify one of my glows.
Had decided to try my hand at something other than Warhammer- Corvus Belli Infinity miniatures. For some small stuff they are incredibly impressive in detail. Let me know what yall think!
Bat Rider, Archduke mousin series, 54mm, Rescale Miniatures. Acrylics/inks. This was very fun to paint. I was concerned about the fragility of some pieces as the original scale had the mouse at 32mm. To address this concern I had the printer upscale two kit on a trial to have the mouse at the equivalent of 54mm. It yielded a bat with wingspan of 51cm!!, the back feet are at 14cm tall. my bomber. (the heron kit was the other). I reinforced the wings with steel pins. The bat sits very stable on its base. All colorings were of natural materials. So you might ask about the orange bat. I started with typical european species look but decided that I was not restricted that way as the bat is physically not very close to a bat or a flying fox. So I looked for some appealing colorings and found the Painted Woolly Bat from SE Asia. look it up.

I’m gonna go ahead and put a pin in the 40K slow-grow league, and call my results an overall success. While I did not win the whole thing, I did achieve each of my personal goals: ✅ - More W’s than L’s ✅ - Top Aeldari Player * ✅ - Played every game 100% painted ✅ - Won Best Painted ** * caveat: By a mere 8 points, but as they say in the classic Fast & Furious films: “by an inch or a mile” 😅 ** caveat: There were only 3 fully painted armies outta some 40 people. 😔 While I didn’t hit the full 4K points worth of painted minis, I’m fine at just over 3,500 pts painted in just a couple of months. Time for a bit of a Warhammer break…

Halloween event on Instagram, to paint one of two busts. I chose Frankenstein's Monster, as I loved the texture on it and wanted to see what I could do with it and my ever-so-common "lit from below" technique. Gotta say, it's shaping up to be one of my bests of the method yet.
Tried a fun experiment with paint mixing by using a random color palette generator on this Innsmouth microbust. It was a bit tough, but I learned a lot and had to really push to get satisfying results. Model by Insomnia Miniatures
Love the Tacticus sprites. One of my favourite factions in the game. Since I paint my EC's in a different scheme, more towards the heresy, I wanted to do these 3 guys and paint them in the official black and pink.
My son has an affinity for dinosaurs and we picked these up from hobbycraft of all places. Ive been working on them when he was been at nursery, he has been happy with my progress so far. My harshest critic.

This week i made MAJOR headways - every single plane is now built! Qutie the feat, 3 seasons of Breaking bad on the second monitor watched, 3 empties of the portable vaccum of plastic dust, 6 sanding sticks destroyed - but surprisingly only half a bottle of glue later... 10 planes DONE Now i better think about priming them, now ive already tested some deployments :)
Away from anything important for the moment so brought the ArcWorlde Fire Dragon by Warp Miniatures as a focused painting project. Not quite sure what my vision for the finalized piece is. Basecoated the flesh with a yellow and the scales with a dark grey. Probably either painting it with flesh with lava-like patterns or as if it was actual lava. Going to do some research before deciding. But regardless, the annoying work of getting those basecoats done is over. Now onto the joy of experimentation!
Painted High Sister Superior and Sister Warrior. First of these I've painted.Paints used are: Army Painter spray colour primer matt black, Citadel color black templar, Warhammer celestra grey, turbo dork six shooter (gun), turbo dork cartridge family (gun and halos) , Warhammer white scar, speedpaint carmine dragon, AK 11060 sickly pink for skin. I will likely do some using and add Citadel Reikland Flesh shade on skin. For eyes I used a toothpick. I'm hearing advice on water and layers so will try that next time. 0 Reply
I really want to be better at painting and blending skin tones without an airbrush, so I can truly grasp the fundamentals. I 3D printed this bust to practice on and I really liked how it came out. Bonus pic: trying out the translucent fabric effect

Models are Next Level Miniatures. Painted quickly with Speedpaint Markers, Speedpaint and Army Painter and Two Thin Coats acrylics.
As the 40K slow-growing league is nearing its end, I’ve started thinking of what to do next. I’ve already managed to paint almost 3,500 pts worth of Aeldari since the start. I’m projecting I should have 4,000 pts or more fully painted by the League’s end. I’ve basically been buying a Battletech box each visit to the shop and tossing it onto the pile! Been taking a bunch of online personality tests to determine which factions best fit my personality and I’ve gotten House Kurita, Clan Jade Falcon, and Wolf’s Dragoons as my merc faction. (I even took tests/quizzes to find my exact regiment in each too!) ** because I am THAT indecisive ** I’ve also settled on a 2nd 40K army as well, and am currently looking at AoS too… BUT I’m gonna need a bit of a break from Warhammer before starting those.

Ahhh so you want to dry brush palette ayy? Theres many options for dry brush palettes from those on the market to the use of Kitchen paper. Theres also ways to make your own using the like of spare sprue. I have my own method which seems to work fairly well. Equipment needed: ● Plasticard (or an equivilant such as a tuperware lid or takeaway pot lid) ● Cocktail Sticks ● PVA Glue ● A Box lid (anything square with flat sides works) ●Masking tape/ tape with little stick ● Coffee stirer or Palette Knife Da Process: Ive included brief instructions on the pics but heres a play by play for those who need it: 1) File you plasticard/ base material to key it so glue will adhere to it better. 2) Using the box lid or other square flat sided item line cocktail sticks up to the length of you base material (e.g. plasticard). If needed gentle taps of the box lid will help line the stick straight and to the same height. 3) Using the masking tape (or tape with less stick) take a long piece and place it over your line of cocktail sticks gently as to not knock them out of line. Then press down to make sure that the sticks wont come loss. Once youre sure use the ends of the tape to lift the sticks out of the box lid. (Dont worry if you mess this up/ struggle I had to retry 3 times trying to make this palette for this guide and ive done this before) 4) Put some glue on your base material and spread it out using a coffe stirer or Palette Knife. Then lift up your taped line of cocktail sticks and place them (taped side up) onto your glued board and leave to dry. Once its dried you should have a perfectly workable dry brush palette. If at any point you need to make a new one or replace cocktail sticks either glue new ones into gaps or strip the old sticks of and repeat this process. Happy dry brushing 💪
A fairly simple conversion using mk6 tactical marines as a base. Mainly converting their bolters to represent "kraken bolters", using the scopes from the Intercessors bolt rifles, and the elongated barrels taken from spare Eliminators sniper rifles.
I painted this up for a challenge focusing on the colors purple and orange. The pumpkin was a little challenging but overall a pretty fun project 😊

Flying in this week 👀 the planes have started and I made good progress, I think one more day and they’ll be ready to prime up! But I have had an intense 2 days of trying out the Warhammer Tone Pro, and you can colour me impressed with them for sure! Some tests from content and some upcoming ;) Did you try them out yet?

I went to a Warhammer store today to see what the hype was about. It seems there’s a new paint range every week so when I first heard about them, I almost needed ophthalmic surgery from rolling my eyes so hard but after watching a few videos on them I was a bit intrigued. First I have to say that I prefer to use artist acrylics. Not because I think they’re better for miniature painting (in a lot of ways, they’re not). But because I don’t want to maintain 2 separate paint collections for miniature painting and canvas painting. Having this preference means I’m usually very indifferent each week when another new hobby paint range is announced. But I really wanted to see if the coverage and self leveling properties lived up to the extensive hype. They had paints in the store to test but I was told they won’t be available for purchase until the 26th of October (pre orders start the 10th of October). They will be available individually as well as in sets and (if I remember correctly), single pots will be around 6€ (in Germany). The paints I used all covered very well over black. Even lighter colors like white and the ochre yellow I tried (sorry I didn’t even bother to look at the color names because I knew they’d just make me mad and I wouldn’t remember them anyway). They did need a second coat for perfect coverage over black but the first coats were pretty impressive and probably enough depending on what effect you’re going for. The self leveling was really impressive. Despite the paint being a bit thick in consistency, you really can apply them straight from the pot and they’ll just level out. Maybe that’s nothing new for hobby paints but my beloved heavy body acrylics are designed to NOT do this. And even artist fluid acrylics don’t really do this all that well. I worked in several layers and still didn’t get any texture build up. They have a satin finish that leans ever so slightly toward matte. They have a smooth texture but not too much shine and glare so they’re not distracting to work with. It feels like a very nice sweet spot. I’d want to apply a final matte varnish but I can’t imagine needing matte coats in the WIP stages. I tried using their “shading medium” to get a glaze consistency but I kept not thinning down enough. I think that speaks to the strong coverage and pigmentation and is just something that takes getting used to. When I did thin down enough, they did seem to glaze well. The paints did seem to dry out on the palette quickly but I was in a Warhammer store - the last places left on earth where wet palettes have yet to be discovered. So maybe this was more a matter of using a dry palette. They didn’t seem to dry out on the model crazy quickly. I didn’t try the 5 step pentad system as I just don’t like painting that way. But I experimented a little with mixing and it was fine. Not amazing, not a muddy mess, but just fine. I’m accustomed to knowing exactly which pigments I’m mixing so I didn’t have unrealistic expectations for paints which don’t list their pigments. But yeah, it was fine. Overall I was impressed. And I was very skeptical going into it. I will definitely buy a pot of white. It really is good. I’m thinking I might also piece together a set of split primaries (a warm and a cool version each of red, yellow and blue) and experiment from there.

I've been enjoying working away at this model. I think working out rules for it as a wild monster in Relicblade has helped with inspiration and motivation. Plan is to have it function as a boss in a special scenario for the Moth Dancer. Im hoping to get it together as maybe some sort of scenario for adepticon next year.

My Vault Krieg urban wasteland board with tinker goblin folding buildings and a gritty wasteland wood board made with various fine aquarium sands and little rocks. The Vault Krieg troops and vehicles in the photo are earlier WIP and will be posted in more finished form later. A truck with a Hammer Crash Through stratagem makes sense when a classic Krieg Centaur tankette is mounted on top of a Hades breaching drill to smash through buildings! - Kitbashed Vault assault truck. I forget the designer but it was something like a cyberpunk themed van, I added hinged roll cage armored shutters to the windows to make it like a Taurox.

Started painting this one today, this is where I ended up at the end of the day. Had 2 sessions, so 2 WIP shots. Gonna darken the coat i think, cause right now I feel like it's fighting for attention with the skin tone.
