Daylight is no Sanctuary

Even in the light of day, the road offers no guarantee of safety. For the weary traveler, the dead remain a constant threat, and the path forward is littered with the remnants of those who came before.

This piece represents approximately 60 hours of work, including extensive revisions to the composition and narrative. I kitbashed the Steel Rook, replacing his original pick with a greatsword to better suit the final vision for the character.

The base was constructed using cork and assorted pieces from the Cursed City set, including birds, rats, skeletal remains, and skulls. I sculpted the stepping stones by hand to help establish the setting and guide the viewer through the scene.

The project went through numerous iterations before I arrived at the final composition. Each revision was an opportunity to refine the atmosphere and strengthen the story. My goal was to create a scene that conveys a simple idea: the light of day may reveal the dangers ahead, but it does not make the journey any safer.
