DIY Dry Brush Palette
Ahhh so you want to dry brush palette ayy? Theres many options for dry brush palettes from those on the market to the use of Kitchen paper. Theres also ways to make your own using the like of spare sprue. I have my own method which seems to work fairly well. Equipment needed: ● Plasticard (or an equivilant such as a tuperware lid or takeaway pot lid) ● Cocktail Sticks ● PVA Glue ● A Box lid (anything square with flat sides works) ●Masking tape/ tape with little stick ● Coffee stirer or Palette Knife Da Process: Ive included brief instructions on the pics but heres a play by play for those who need it: 1) File you plasticard/ base material to key it so glue will adhere to it better. 2) Using the box lid or other square flat sided item line cocktail sticks up to the length of you base material (e.g. plasticard). If needed gentle taps of the box lid will help line the stick straight and to the same height. 3) Using the masking tape (or tape with less stick) take a long piece and place it over your line of cocktail sticks gently as to not knock them out of line. Then press down to make sure that the sticks wont come loss. Once youre sure use the ends of the tape to lift the sticks out of the box lid. (Dont worry if you mess this up/ struggle I had to retry 3 times trying to make this palette for this guide and ive done this before) 4) Put some glue on your base material and spread it out using a coffe stirer or Palette Knife. Then lift up your taped line of cocktail sticks and place them (taped side up) onto your glued board and leave to dry. Once its dried you should have a perfectly workable dry brush palette. If at any point you need to make a new one or replace cocktail sticks either glue new ones into gaps or strip the old sticks of and repeat this process. Happy dry brushing 💪
