Verminlord Deceiver Basing Process
Since I knew this Verminlord Deceiver was going to be an entry for the Rusty Nurgling 2026 competition I wanted to make sure the base would stand out a bit. This was my first major competition and I decided to try a couple of new techniques. Using some spare scatter terrain from the Skaventide box set and some spare Stormcast bits, I was able to create more of a scene. I tried a few layouts, placing the Verminlord on the base each time to be sure it would be a good fit, then locked the positioning in with Apoxie Sculpt. Painting itself was fairly standard with some dry rushing, contrast and speed paints for soil colors, metallics for the Stormcast and some statue bits, and the stone was done with Ashen Stone Speedpaint, Nuln oil wash, and some edge highlighting. There’s definitely room for improvement, but for being a first time with some of these techniques and under the time constraint, I was pleased with the outcome.
