Dungeon Denizens

Every dungeon has its denizens. Warriors who descend into the depths, creatures that never leave them, and everything in between. Paint a single model that belongs in that world — underground corridors, shadowy caverns, ancient crypts, or any place where the light gives out. Any genre, any scale — as long as it fits the dark.

Entry Guidelines

• One entry per person

• Must be your own work painted during this competition window

• Entries must not have been entered in other competitions

• Any number of models allowed — single figures, small groups, or scenic compositions

• Fully finished models only, no WIPs

• Any scale, genre, or subject matter

• Conversions, kitbashes, and 3D printed models allowed

• Must include five (5) clear, well-lit photos on a neutral background: bare plastic/unpainted model(s), front, left side, right side, and back

• No AI-generated, enhanced, or photoshopped images

Please make sure your entry follows all the competition guidelines listed above. Entries that don't will not be eligible for placement or prizes.

Judging Criteria

Entries will be evaluated based on creative intent, including:

• Use of color - How effectively you use color to support your concept and create mood

• Consistency of technique - Technical execution that serves your artistic vision

• Quality of build - Clean preparation with no mold lines, seamless assembly, and attention to detail

• Storytelling - The narrative your piece communicates through composition, basing, and presentation

Judging will take place after the competition deadline. Winners will be announced within 10 days of the competition end via the Baselair newsletter and socials.

What's in it for You

Renegade Game Studios will award store credit to the top three finishers: $100 for Gold, $50 for Silver, and $25 for Bronze, redeemable on their US, UK, and EU webstores. Every participant who submits an entry will receive a 15% discount code for all in-stock unpainted Heroscape titles and Heroscape paint sets.

All finalists will receive a special shoutout in our newsletter and on social media. In addition, competition judge(s) will choose a limited number of entries to receive direct, constructive feedback.
